I find mechanically incentivizing players to take notes does a lot to create an artifact of a campaign that I remember fondly. Giving them a metacurrency at the start of the session or some extra experience I've found goes a long way to get players to write about the campaign.
It's also great to use as a catch up mechanism for players who had to miss a session or two.

Awarding meta currency for out of character interactions with the game is exactly what a meta currency is for! What a great thought.
